Daily Drop Cap

1 Apr

The twelfth and final alphabet was just finished for Brooklyn-based illustrator, typographer, and designer Jessica Hische’s Daily Drop Cap project. She started this project in Sepetember of 2009, and added to it by creating a beautiful illustrative initial cap on a regular basis. Her reasoning? To “prettify the internet and beautify your blog posts.” These are open for use on any non-commercial sites on blog posts. Jessica designed the first 11 sets, then opened it up to special guest designers/typographers/illustrators to round out the last set. Stand-outs for me on the last set are A, K, O, R, and Y. I could see a lot of these developed as some really great decorative typefaces.

She also has some of the alphabets available as letterpressed prints in her shop. Oh, and if you get the Collectors’ Set, which is the first 15 sets of each alphabet, she says she’ll send you a cake. Delicious stuff!
